Alberta Licence Plate Frame

Braid sweet but not too much!

A light dessert that impresses even if brought as a gift. As soon as I discovered from strawberry and lemon, I did almost every weekend! It can also be frozen, either raw or cooked, so be ready for any occasion. You can eat as a sweet bread, perfect in the morning, or leave it slightly more neutral approach to meats and cheeses. I like a lot to have some things ready frozen, it gives me double satisfaction because when the thaw and find the sweetness or fragrance, I have not had trouble!

Serves 2 braids

500 gr flour 00
80 g butter at room temp. Environment
1 teaspoon salt
50 or 80 g sugar, depending on whether you want a more or less sweet
1 beaten egg
230 ml milk (or milk + cream)
1 / 2 cube of yeast, or a whole if you have little time
grain of sugar

To do this sweet, it would be better to use un'impastatrice, that's great also the bread machine, used only on the program mix. It can be done by hand, the first few times I did so, but it's a little harder.

Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast.
Pour the flour into the container of the machine, mix the sugar and salt and add 3 / 4 beaten egg (the rest you need to brush the bread). Start the mixer.
Add a little milk at a time and flour while continuing to knead.
When everything is well blended, add the softened butter a piece at a time. Combine each teaspoon of butter until the previous has been absorbed.

Initially the dough will seem a little too soft, but then continue to knead, about 10 minutes, magically come to a firmer texture. If you do it by hand, you have to turn it over and beat well with strength on the floor for 10-15 minutes (that's why if it does the machine is more convenient!). At one point the mixture well mixed start to separate from the sides, then it will ready. Overthrow him in a large bowl and let double in volume at room temp. environment. It will take approximately 3 hours with half cube, half the entire cube.

Take the dough, divide in half, then each half in 3 cords and formed two long braids directly on parchment paper. brush them with egg and a bit 'of milk (or cream) and sprinkle with granulated sugar if you'll use it as a sweet, smooth if you let him use it as a "support" for cold meats or cheeses ( in this case, you only put 50 g of sugar). Let rest away from drafts for 30 minutes (or even more), bring the oven to 200 °. Bake in middle of oven for 25 minutes or until it is golden brown.

With a red ribbon is a beautiful gift to take to dinner.
